This is a hard lesson to learn, but an important one. Do not get attached to the finger that points to the moon. No matter how beautiful or loving it has been. This is the guru-disciple relationship. Many of us become fanatical or dependent on the guru. But one cannot stand on a guru's feet. We have to stand on our own. And no authentic teacher will create a dependency between themselves and their students. They will always push their students towards independence. This is the way to build strength. To give the realisation that when you are in the driver seat, no one else can drive the car. They can help you navigate, but you have to drive and eventually, even navigate on your own.
